Overview |

Gear Tracker is designed to track your runs/rides/walks and swims (Gear Sport) and allow direct upload to Strava. Settings and features are designed to enhance the experience during your activity and not to provide detailed analytics, this is left the experts. i.e. Primarily Strava, and other platforms that can sync with Strava.

Basic Use |
Once you have your settings as you would like you can start an activity by pressing the play icon on the home screen. Pressing the play button will display a screen which will attempt to get a GPS signal prior to tracking. For activities that require GPS (Riding / Swimming) you will not be able to start your activity until you have a GPS lock. For activities that can use the Pedometer (Running / Walking) you can start your activity immediately, if there is no GPS lock when the activity is started Gear Tracker will use the pedometer until it acquires a GPS lock. |
GPS (Standalone vs Tethered) |
Gear Tracker has GPS status screen when acquiring a GPS lock prior to starting an activity and during the tracking of your activity. You will find this as the far-left hand side screen when tracking. This screen shows the status of the GPS. The GPS pin will be white, and the status will be “Tracking…” when you have a GPS lock, and if not, it will display “Searching…”. Around the pin will be either a green outline of a watch or a blue outline of a phone. These are indications as to what mode your GPS is in. The Green outline of a watch indicates your GPS is in Standalone mode and is using your watch GPS. The blue outline of a phone indicates that your watch is tethered to your phone and Gear Tracker is using your phones GPS to track. You cannot have Bluetooth connected to your phone and use your watch GPS, if you are tethered to your phone and turn off your phone GPS you will lose signal. You will get optimal battery usage using your phones GPS in tethered mode. |
